Pak future linked with students: Hoti

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti on Tuesday said the future of the country was linked with the students, Geo News reported.

The Chief Minister said this while addressing at the award medals certificates and cash awards ceremony to top position holders in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exams under eighth educational boards of the province here at CM House on Tuesday.

He said facilities and environment available in private schools were not provided in government schools after creation of Pakistan, adding, consequently, the standard in government schools were not that what it ought to be.

He said that the present government was awarding Rs.10,000 and Rs.15,000 to top ten position holders of government schools in SSC and inter exams respectively under 'Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa Program' in the province so that they may continue their education without becoming burden on their parents.

Moreover, he said that the government would bear fees of students enrolled to private schools hailing from union councils where there are no government schools under Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa Program.

He said that campuses of different universities have been established to provide higher education facilities to students of each district at their doorstep. He said that the project of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was realized in a short span of one year.

He said that campus of Kohat University will be established in Karak and Cadet College will also be set up in Lakki Marwat after Swabi and Swat.

He said that 40 colleges have been established in reign of the present government.

He said that the province achieved additional resources after 18th amendment and NFC Award. He said that offer of three foreign loans has been turned down and loans will be obtained for projects by generating local sources.

He said that quality education and needs of deserving students will be fulfilled through an Rs.3 billion project in collaboration with DFID. (APP)
