ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said he was not in need of the resources provided for former rulers in the Budget and he would never make use of the same in his life.
Addressing a seminar on economic progress, the former prime minister said Ishaq Dar had stated the right thing that he (Nawaz Sharif) would never accept the resources provided for in the Budget for ex-rulers. "I stand by this statement," he added.
He regretted that leaders plundered the national wealth and went on foreign tours and stayed lavishly in luxurious hotels.
"As terrorist activities saw some let up, the menace of loadshedding started proving itself as another terrorism for the people," Nawaz Sharif observed, lamenting the government promises to end loadshedding every year which ultimately proves to be of no use.
Recalling the days of his government, the PML-N chief said during his rule Pakistan was registering a faster progress compared to that of 20 neighboring countries. "Even the then Indian prime minister admired our progress," he said.
He said the Pakistan people elected his government twice for five years but 'both the times we were not allowed to complete our terms'.
"We never bargained on the matters of Pakistan's security," he claimed and added that the government could save Rs414 billion every year by bringing reforms in its institutions.
