ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of the Prime Minister, has assented to the Delimitation of Constituencies (Amendment) Bill, 2012 and the Pakistan Trade Control of Wild Fauna and Flora Bill, 2012.
The Delimitation of Constituencies (Amendment) Bill, 2012 seeks to bring the provisions of the Delimitation of Constituencies Act, 1974, in conformity with Articles 51, 106 and 218 of the Constitution as amended by the Constitution (Eighteenth Amendment) Act, 2010.
The Bill was passed by the Senate on the 3rd November 2011 and transmitted to the National Assembly. The National Assembly passed it on the 4th January 2012 with amendment and returned to the Senate.
The Senate passed it again on the 8th March 2012 with amendment.
The said Bill has been passed by the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) under clause (3) of the Article 70 of the Constitution in joint sitting held on 30th March 2012.
The Pakistan Trade Control of Wild Fauna and Flora Bill, 2012 seeks to give effect to the United Convention on International Trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora.
This Bill was passed by the National Assembly on the 29th December 2010.
Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament), in its joint sitting held on 5th April 2012, passed this Bill under clause (3) of the Article 70 of the Constitution. (APP)
